When it comes to exercise we traditionally stop at the neck. However, we have approximately 63 muscles in the face and neck. These are tiny muscles that control facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, and smirking. In addition they coordinate functions such as swallowing, talking, chewing, blowing, facial expression, and facial posture. Everyday use of these muscles is not enough to support their strength and function as we continue our life’s journey. From the perspective of the author it should be done in a systematic fashion that addresses the entire face, with all the muscles equally worked to promote symmetry and optimal results. further enhance relaxation, circulation, the removal of toxins, and facial muscle awareness.
Who can do Face Yoga? What are the benefits?
Face yoga is for any individual over the age of eighteen. At this age the facial muscles are
fully developed. Face yoga can potentially assist individuals with Bell’s Palsy, TMJ, strokes with residual facial weakness, diagnosed stress related headaches, the grieving process, mental focus, and insomnia. It is perfect for any individual who wants a more vibrant appearance as a botox replacement or in addition to botox. Botox works by blocking nerve signals that cause a muscle to contract paralyzing the muscles, decreasing blood flow with the inability to bring in nutrient rich blood and remove toxins. Face yoga strengthens the facial muscle and enhances circulation to the tissues.
